STELLENBOSCH FESTIVAL OF GARDENS
Garden Town Stellenbosch is a ten-day festival taking place from 20-30 October 2022.
Inspired by the world famous flower festival of Girona, Spain, it will encompass horticultural tours, flower art, guest garden specialists, DIY vegetable gardening, guided bird walks, wine tasting and much more.
The festival is an initiative of Visit Stellenbosch, which comprises the region’s tourism stakeholders and partners, including the Stellenbosch Municipality and Stellenbosch Wine Routes. The objective is to grow tourism and the economy in Stellenbosch.
The festival draws in many well-known properties and personalities including the Dylan Lewis Sculpture Garden, Rupert Museum, Quoin Rock, Ernst van Jaarsveld, Lanzerac and Babylonstoren Estates.
During the festival, the Stellenbosch CBD will be decorated with a flower theme and colourful floral displays will be added to public spaces in Bird Street. The programme of events will start with a flower parade on 20 October, and will be followed by a soiree at the recently landscaped Voorgelegen gardens.
In addition to workshops, flower clubs and flower arrangement educationals, private home gardens will also be open to visitors on certain days, and Boschendal will offer guided walking tours about the history of the farm, regenerative farming practices and sustainable gardening. Other activities include the ABSA workshops on the art of bonsai and the ABSA art garden.
