NEW CARTS FOR STELLENBOSCH GOLF CLUB
Stellenbosch Golf Club recently purchased high tech lithium-ion electric golf carts. Although walking the 18 hole course is still the main means of getting around and experiencing the course first hand, more than 27% of members now use carts. Busy lifestyles and a younger generation more attuned to modern golfing practices are leading the shift; their high net-worth membership also drives the investment in quality, with the selection of the new ClubCar carts.
The carts are a sound business investment for the club and helps it to collect revenues that can be ploughed back into maintaining the course. Selection needs to match the requirements and infrastructure of the club and was made based on the business decision to purchase 40 premium quality carts. Due to the current state of load shedding, lithium-ion batteries were chosen as they require shorter charging times and can easily complete 36 holes on a single charge.
Other beneficial features include lightweight construction and rust resistant aluminium chassis, important for golf courses near the coast. The ClubCar is kinder on grassed surfaces and has a better power-to-mass ratio for improved efficiency.
