LEOPARD CREEK INVESTS IN FAIRWAY MOWERS
Updated: Oct 3
South Africa’s top-rated golf course, Leopard Creek, took delivery of five high-end fairway mowers in time to prepare the course for the Alfred Dunhill Championship in October 2024. The delivery of the mowers lays down a challenge to the country’s other top golf clubs to match the care and attention of Leopard Creek Country Club in preparing the best possible playing surface for its members and the championship.
Most notably, the club purchased TORO Reelmaster 5610 four-wheel drive fairway mowers, which are fitted with grass catchers and canopies. These are the same mowers used on the world’s most exclusive courses, and provide precision cutting with five mechanisms to ensure even cuts. The big diesel mowers are fast enough to minimise disruption to players during the day, but are light and easy to manoevre, reducing weight on the all-important playing surfaces.
Leopard Creek is set in the sub-tropical lowveld region of Malelane, with fast-growing grass that poses a challenge for maintenance crews. The fairway mowers are designed to handle these demanding conditions. Their four-wheel drive ensures they get the traction needed to reach all of the course’s fairways and semi-roughs.
