Howard Geach is a cultural and nature guide, well known for his specialist knowledge of the Cradle of Humankind, where the Greater Cradle Nature Reserve is situated. It is a 9000 ha UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Geach’s interests include geology, paleo-anthropology, stone age, iron age, wilderness education, history, art and the power of tourism to contribute to the South African economy. His company is called Aah-Africa Tours and Transfers and he is the lead guide and manager for the acclaimed Malapa Human Origins Tour which is based at the Greater Cradle Nature Reserve, home to the Cradle Boutique Hotel and Riverhorse Lodge. The reserve attracts tourists as it is home to two world famous active fossil dig sites – Gladysvale and Malapa.
Geach says he has found that visitors to the reserve are fascinated by the story of evolution, which “brings a perspective of time and life that few other experiences can.” He adds that there is so much layered into the landscapes of the Cradle that it represents a national treasure for education, conservation, science, recreation and tourism.”
