GBCSA RELOCATES TO GROWTHPOINT’S RIVER PARK OFFICES
The Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA) is moving to new green offices in Cape Town at Growthpoint Properties’ River Park offices in Mowbray. River Park recently improved its green rating to a GBCSA 5 Star Green Star SA – Existing Building Performance v1 certification. The building has high scores for its land use and ecology, green transport access and energy and water savings.
Lisa Reynolds, CEO of the GBCSA, says a green building rating was a prerequisite for the council’s choice of offices and River Park meets all their needs. Timothy Irvine, Growthpoint’s regional asset manager for the Western Cape, says they are pleased to extend their long-standing relationship with Growthpoint, a leading advocate for green building, a founding member of the GBCSA, and a company that provides resource-efficient work spaces.
Growthpoint started investing in green buildings and solar energy over a decade ago and over 100 of its buildings are certified green. Their ongoing investment in solar energy and green buildings reduces carbon emissions, creates energy, saves water and ensures continuity of water supply.
